Bangtan Universe

This website serves as a place for me to keep content and analysis related to the Bangtan Universe! I hope that the information I have created and gathered for my own sake will be useful to other fans who want to learn about and interact with the Bangtan Universe.

This guide is meant to help piece together the Bangtan Universe (BU), BTS’s fictional universe, which is spread across multiple mediums and spans several years. I have attempted to gather all related materials in one place, and I am also working on my own analyses and other related information. This website is a living document and will be updated on an ongoing basis!

The BU began in 2015 with the release of the “I Need U” music video and the HYYH pt. 1 album, though at the time of that release, BigHit was not yet using the term “BU.” It has since expanded to include music videos, promotional videos, texts, and a webtoon. Some concert VCRs that appear at BTS concerts also contain related themes.

If you’re new to Bangtan, the Bangtan Universe (BU) operates as a vehicle for storytelling associated with BTS. The members each play a character in this world, and we can trace their stories through the various media released by BigHit. Though not everything released by BigHit/BTS is part of the BU, there is a lot of content. Due to the amount of content and its cross-platform nature, the BU can easily become convoluted. I hope that this website will be useful to many fans in navigating the BU.

Currently I plan to include my translations of the HYYH Notes, a timeline, a summary of the content of the notes, and information about the canon of the BU, as well as whatever analysis I feel may be interesting to others. If there’s anything you’re interested in seeing, please let me know.
